4) Testi andati perduti

Love’s Labour’s Won. Alla fine del XVI sec. Sia Francis Mere, sia un appunto probabilmente appartenuto ad un libraio, ascrivono a Shakespeare un testo pubblicato da poco ma non giunto fino a noi. Potrebbe anche essere un titolo alternativo o un sottotitolo di altra commedia già conosciuta (MAAN, AWTEW, o anche TS).

Cardenio, testo tardo scritto in collaborazione con Fletcher, adattamento di una storia contenuta nel Don Chisciotte di Cervantes, come risulta da molti documenti

Ur-Hamlet. Pochi studiosi credono che sia un testo shakespeariano, secondo l’ipotesi avanzata da P. Alexander e in seguito sostenuta da Harold Bloom e Peter Ackroyd. Da molti studiosi il testo è attribuito, con maggiore autorità, a Thomas Kyd. L’ipotesi di Bloom è che la storia di Amleto avesse perseguitato Shakespeare per tutta la sua carriera e quindi vi fosse tornato a più riprese fino alla stesura finale del 1601.
